Furlan Marri, brand history

Furlan Marri is a Swiss watch brand founded in 2020 by Andrea Furlan and Hamad Al Marri.
The models of the brand are equipped with Mechaquartz calibres by Seiko.
In 2021 the brand was awarded the Horological Revelation Prize at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève for the model MR. Gris Ref. 1041-A

Andrea Furlan is a Swiss industrial designer (graduate from ECAL, Ecole Cantonale d'Art de Lausanne, Switzerland) who is passionate about the world of watchmaking from an early age. After working several years for prestigious brands (internships for Chopard, Hublot, Sarcar and HD3 Complication), notably for Domin okique Renaud (founder of Renaud & Papi, one of the largest manufacturers who developed movements with complications for Audemars Piguet, Richard Mille and Cartier among others), with whom he designed a complex watch called DR01 Twelve First. He moved to Asia and California after 4 years, where he became a watch design consultant for various major groups in mass production and online distribution. After several trips there, he met and worked directly with the most demanding partners who are now supporting him in the creation of the project, since November 2019.

« We are two friends united by a common passion for watchmaking and creating new projects »

Hamad Al Marri is a watch collector and artist from the Middle East who studied business management in Australia. Since his childhood, he has been walking around auction houses and dreaming of incredible stories that watches could tell. His passion for independent watchmakers and watch finishing has never ceased, he brings his knowledge and insight into future collections and the vision of the brand. It's the first time both countries with their own stories partner together from sketch to development and production in the watch industry.

Transparency is necessary to avoid any confusion about our products. After months of traveling and collaborating with
suppliers to understand their processes, they source, design, and manufacture their components in three different regions:

Hong Kong and Japan for most of the components.

Italy and France for their straps and accessories.

The assembly will vary according to the type of project and the people who are more efficient with movements. Swiss made projects will be assembled in Switzerland. Mecaquartz projects in Hong Kong.

Furlan Marri have several warehouses in different parts of the world, so they can optimise shipping depending on the location of the customers. It can be Hong Kong, USA or Switzerland.

All their products are imagined, sketched, designed and pre-prototyped (3D printed case in Geneva, Switzerland, in their design studio, in the same city of François Borgel's workshop, who was among the greatest case manufacturer by the past (patent of the first waterproof screwed caseback with gasket in 1931) and supplied many watch cases that are iconic today.

Furlan Marri mechaquartz models

Mechaquartz movements were first invented in Switzerland and Japan during the quartz crisis in the late 80's. In Switzerland, Piguet and LeCoultre were the first to invent this particular movement, while in Japan it was Seiko. Watchmakers wanted to bring back the feeling of a sweeping second hand that could only be found on a mechanical watch at that time. Our chronographs are full of those stories with this touch of modernity. Attractive details such as engraved pushers, domed and curved hands, highly polished indexes, circular and vertical brushed parts. Inspired by the 40's, made for today.
